Notes & Caveats

  • ⚠️Delay effect for the riff section is provided by a Roland SRV-2000 Digital Reverb in 'secret' delay mode, not a Boss DD-3 pedal. DD-3 was used live and on demos, but not on the studio recording.
  • ⚠️No wah, chorus, flanger, phaser, or other modulation effects are present in the riff section per sources and audio.
  • ⚠️Reverb is not from the amp; delay/reverb is from the rack unit in the effects loop.
  • ⚠️Settings are from Guitar World interview with Slash's tech and are considered highly reliable for the studio recording.
  • ⚠️Guitar knob settings are estimated based on typical Slash usage and era.
  • ⚠️Settings cross-referenced with genre and era conventions for accuracy. Slash used a modded Marshall (JCM800/SLP) with moderate-high gain for crunchy, aggressive attack, strong mids for cut, balanced bass and treble, and moderate presence for clarity; reverb is subtle, as most ambience was added in post-production or from the room.
