James Hetfield's original Marshall was stolen before the session; he used a replacement JCM800 2203 from a Danish music shop, modded by Jose Arredondo. No evidence of pedals or effects used for the main riff rhythm tone. Quad-tracked guitars. No reverb or delay on amp or in chain for rhythm. Settings estimated based on era, amp, and genre. No evidence of live/touring gear or later Mesa amps for this recording.
