Notes & Caveats

  • ⚠️No direct numeric amp settings found for 'The Devil In I' riff; settings estimated based on typical Orange Rockerverb/Marshall JCM800 metal usage and genre/era.
  • ⚠️Pedal and effect usage for the riff section is inferred from interviews and lack of audible effects in the recording; no time-based or modulation effects are present on the main riff.
  • ⚠️Both Jim Root and Mick Thomson tracked rhythm guitars; both signal chains are included as both are present on the studio recording.
  • ⚠️Noise gate is almost certainly used but specific model/settings not confirmed for this song.
  • ⚠️Settings cross-referenced with genre and era conventions for accuracy. Slipknot's 'The Devil In I' features a modern, extremely high-gain, tight metal tone with controlled low end, slightly scooped but not hollow mids, bright but not harsh treble, and a clear, aggressive presence. The reverb is essentially dry, matching the genre's production conventions and the band's typical amp settings (Mesa/Boogie Rectifier or EVH 5150).
